Days to Remember in September for The Barrett / The Claude Community

Each September hosts meaningful days to remember and honor our country. This year, Labor Day falls on Monday, September 4th. The holiday always takes place on the first Monday of September. In addition, this month, The Barrett / The Claude remembers 9/11 while honoring the memories of those we lost.

Before it was a federal holiday, Labor Day was recognized by labor activists and individual states. American labor has raised the nation’s standard of living and contributed to the most significant production the world has ever known. The labor movement has brought us closer to realizing our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy. Therefore it is more than appropriate that this nation pays tribute on Labor Day to the creator of its strength, freedom, and leadership- the American worker.

September 11th, also known as Patriot Day, is a dedicated time to reflect on the devastating attack and remember those whose lives were lost and those who fought on the front lines. Coming from the National Park Service, The 22nd Anniversary of the Service of Remembrance will be live-streamed via the Flight 93 National Memorial YouTube channel. Then, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum will be hosting a live 30-minute digital program. View a film highlighting first-person accounts of the attacks and their aftermath and connect with Museum staff in real time.
